The following remarks were given by Clara McLeod from Fox Lake Cree Nation at the Manitoba CEC RCEA Community Meeting for Fox Lake Cree Nation.
“You can say from all the years of impacts of Hydro development, not only did it impact the environment, but it also led to the social, cultural, and health impacts of our people. Our people turned to alcohol because of the pain they endured growing up. We lost our culture, and most importantly we lost the self-sufficiency we once had.” – Clara McLeod, Fox Lake Cree Nation
